WHAT TO BRING FOR A WORKSHOP OR CLINIC

BRING A COGGINS FOR EACH HORSE THAT IS BROUGHT ON THE GROUNDS.

A rope halter is best for control and teaching.

Conventional flat halters in nylon or leather allow the horse to pull on you and get away.   Remember that the horse is 1000 lbs and can use his size and weight along with the ability to out maneuver you with his body.  Aligning his head and neck along with the rest of his body can give him the leverage to get away.   The nature of the horse is to escape what he dislikes or fears and he will use his body as leverage against us.   The rope halter will maximize your ability to control the horse.   Safety and control can best be achieved by using the thin rope halter that will make their response uncomfortable and your idea more comfortable.  The horse will find the path of least resistance when applied at the right time and the right area.  Two knots on the noseband create more pressure when you apply it, but will also stop as soon as you release.

A rope lead at least 12 feet long is best for handling, control and teaching.
NO LUNGE LINES

A 4 ft. training stick with or without a string or 4ft. dressage type whip.

Water troughs are here or bring your own buckets if not comfortable

A helmet is needed for under 18. Release to be signed by parent or guardian.

Bring your lunch, drinks and a chair.

Never do anything that is suggested or told to you on the ground or in the saddle that you do not feel comfortable or safe with.

Please inform me of any health restrictions.

I am happy to answer any questions by phone or email.
